Mamdani will restrict AI in schools to protect student learning

Today, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced a new policy that imposes a one-year ban on the use of generative AI in classrooms for students in 8th grade and below, while teachers, parents, and experts monitor student learning and determine the best path forward to ensure students’ intellectual growth.
