a demanding boss and a toxic boss are not the same thing, and confusing the two costs people years.

a demanding boss pushes you because they think you're capable of more. the hard feedback isn't fun to give either — they're giving it because they believe you can do better.

a toxic boss takes credit for your work and hands you the blame. humiliates people in front of others. moves the goalposts so you can never win. warm when they need something, cold when they don't, coldest when you need something from them.

if that's your boss: it's not you. you won't fix them and you won't win them over. document everything, protect yourself, start interviewing.
