On April 30, 1945, Adolf Hitler died by suicide in his bunker in Berlin. But with Nazi Germany defeated, a historic question remained: How should the leaders responsible for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the Holocaust be held accountable? The answer came in the city of Nuremberg, where the Nazi regime had once staged massive party rallies and promoted its ideology. Between November 1945 and October 1946, leading Nazi officials were put on trial before the International Military Tribunal in what became known as the Nuremberg Trials. Watched by the world, these landmark proceedings established the principle that individuals, including political and military leaders, could be held personally accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity under international law. In this episode of Baebaak Isha, discover how the Nuremberg Trials exposed the crimes of the Nazi regime, delivered justice after World War II, and laid the foundation for modern international criminal law.
