2026 University of Washington New Student Convocation

New Student Convocation is one of only two occasions where the University president, the Board of Regents, the deans of the 16 schools and colleges and the faculty gather for an academic ceremony focused on students. The other, of course, is the graduation ceremony, Commencement. These two events are the seminal “bookend” events of a college career.

At New Student Convocation you will:

- Hear from University President, Dr. Robert J. Jones, who will share his vision for the journey that the incoming class are beginning.
- Get to know your classmates from around the world.
- Take important first steps on the path to academic success.
- Get tips on navigating student life.
- Join the Husky community.
