McGill’s collaborative Tsi Non:we Onkwatonhnhets project was created to transform the University’s bustling Y-intersection at the Downtown campus into a functional gathering place that challenges Western ways of thinking by thoughtfully integrating Indigenous worldviews, art and culture.

Featuring artwork by Haudenosaunee artist Alanah Jewell, the design draws inspiration from Kanien’kehá:ka history and themes, honouring the land on which McGill is situated.

This meaningful project underscores McGill’s commitment to respectful and ethical collaboration with Indigenous partners. It directly responds to Call No. 26 (Indigeneity in Public Space at McGill) from McGill’s 52 calls for action to advance recognition and reconciliation.
