RMIT Aviation Academy Senior Manager Justin Brownjohn says AI is being used already to help make airports and travel more secure, with biometrics being a key component.
“We’re seeing the use of biometrics a lot more. Ostensibly this is to help or optimise a passenger’s travel through the airport, but there’s also a security overlay,” Mr Brownjohn told News24.
“All of these different data sets are going to be tied together to start to give a more stronger, more well-rounded view of the travelling public.
“Being able to identify threats or something that we need to investigate a little bit further before they get anywhere near the aircraft.”
