Christie's will hold 20th & 21st Century Art sales in Hong Kong in September.
On August 29 and 30, Christie's Shanghai Art Space will showcase selected works, providing collectors and enthusiasts with an opportunity to engage with the works before the auctions.
Painted in Rubens’s final decade, Willow-shaded Landscape is one of only two landscapes the master kept privately.
Its refined composition, subtle tones, and rhythmic brushwork reveal his late artistic depth.
It returns to market after over 60 years.
Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) redefined still life by focusing on color and form over realistic representation.
His The Blue Plate (1879–1880) exemplifies this modern approach.
The work was shown in Beijing at Christie’s preview on August 25–26, alongside other modern and contemporary pieces.
The show is a dialogue between 20th-century Eastern and Western art, where visitors will also view the bold experiments of Chinese artists such as Wu Guanzhong, Zao Wou-ki and Wu Dayu.
Christie's celebrates its 260th anniversary and 40 years in Asia in 2026.
Global sales hit $4.5 billion in H1, up 71% year-on-year, with Asia performing strongly and Chinese collectors playing a key role.
