Lee Jung-seob's Life and Art Reimagined Through Music

This documentary follows Gray by Silver, a Korean contemporary music ensemble, as they reinterpret the life and art of renowned Korean painter Lee Jung-seob through original music.

Tracing the artist's footsteps, the ensemble visits places connected to his life and explores his artistic philosophy. The film captures their creative journey, from research and musical experimentation to the development of original compositions inspired by Lee's life and works.

Founded in 2016, Gray by Silver is a four-member ensemble featuring piano, vocals, daegeum (Korean bamboo flute), and drums. The group creates original music that crosses the boundaries of contemporary music, jazz, classical music, and Korean traditional music.

The ensemble has performed internationally at venues including Lincoln Center in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. In 2026, they received the Best Global Contemporary Album award at the 23rd Korean Music Awards for their third album, The Time of Trees (2025).

The Performing Arts Video Documentation Support Program supports artists and arts organizations in creating portfolio-style videos that capture their unique artistic vision and creative work. The program helps document and showcase their artistic practices while connecting their work with new audiences.
