News24 host James Macpherson blasts the Welcome to Country ceremony, arguing the practice has become increasingly divisive and unnecessary after another ceremony at the MCG.
“The whole Welcome to Country thing was already out of hand. But I've got to say … it's getting worse,” Mr Macpherson said.
“Welcome to Country was back in the news on Friday after Joy Waldin did the honours at the MCG before the start of an American football game.
“The Welcome to Country isn't actually giving anyone permission to enter. The entire thing is performative. And tiresome. And divisive.”
