Drinking Morning Dew to Survive [Castaway #02]

Stranded on a tiny island, Jin still has no reliable source of fresh water.

Then he notices a single drop of dew hanging from the tip of a leaf.

By carefully observing the plants around him, Jin discovers that scattered droplets can be guided along the narrow leaves and gathered at one point.

His first idea is simple:

catch the water with his hands.

It works—but far too slowly.

Most of the tiny droplets fall into the sand before he can collect them.

Searching the beach, Jin finds a small concave shell that can hold water.

Using three narrow dew-covered leaves, a piece of dried plant fiber, and the shell, he builds his first primitive water collector.

One drop.

Then another.

Then one more.

For the first time since waking up on the island, Jin drinks fresh water that he collected himself.

But as the morning sun rises, the dew begins to disappear.

Jin has discovered that fresh water can be collected here.

Now he needs to find a way to get much more of it—and make the supply reliable.
