🏺 Daereungwon, the Heart of a Thousand Years of Silla 🏺

Located in the very center of Gyeongju, Daereungwon is a historic site where 23 tombs of early Silla kings and nobles are gathered.

Within Daereungwon, you can find some of the most iconic royal tombs of Silla, including
Cheonmachong, where the famous Cheonmado (Heavenly Horse Painting) was discovered,
Hwangnamdaechong, the largest ancient tomb in Hwangnam-dong,
and Michuwangneung, the tomb of King Michu, which is also beloved as a cherry blossom spot in spring.

As you walk through Daereungwon,
it is truly fascinating to realize that even during the Silla Dynasty,
these massive royal tombs were gathered near the royal palace at the heart of Gyeongju.

Between the gently curved burial mounds,
a single elegant magnolia tree stands at the well-known
“Daereungwon Photo Spot,”
transforming the site into not only a place of historical significance
but also a “hip” destination loved by younger generations 📸
