Almost every tourist visiting Seoul will stop by Bukchon Hanok Village. It’s a beautiful, historic, and picturesque neighborhood filled with hanok, Korea’s traditional houses. From scenic views to cafés, restaurants, galleries, and museums, Bukchon has a lot to offer. It’s never boring.
But if you only come for a quick Instagram photo at one of Bukchon’s famous viewpoints, you’re missing out. Wedged between two royal palaces and shaped by hundreds of years of history, Bukchon is filled with hidden stories.
One video could never do justice to such a story-rich neighborhood, but I gave it a try anyway. Watch this before your next visit to Bukchon!

서울을 찾는 관광객이라면 거의 누구나 북촌한옥마을에 들릅니다. 한국의 전통 가옥인 한옥이 가득한 아름답고 유서 깊으며 그림 같은 동네죠. 멋진 풍경부터 카페, 식당, 갤러리, 박물관까지 북촌에는 즐길 거리가 정말 많습니다. 지루할 틈이 없는 곳이죠.
하지만 북촌의 유명한 전망 포인트에서 인스타그램 사진 한 장만 빠르게 찍고 떠난다면, 북촌의 진짜 매력을 놓치고 있는 겁니다. 두 왕궁 사이에 자리 잡고 수백 년의 역사 속에서 형성된 북촌에는 곳곳에 숨겨진 이야기들이 가득합니다.
