New AI guidelines for UK government employees details that thanking your chatbot is essentially a complete waste of time and resources
So much processing power is being wasted on meaningless replies to thank you’s that workers need to be reminded to use AI quote “safely, fairly, and sustainably, especially for government work” - or in other words - “stop wasting our tokens, those cost money”
They’re essentially walking back the massive push for everybody to be using AI all the time by encouraging people to not use overkill tools for mundane tasks and actually CHECK their work rather than taking chatGPT at face value
