How far can a tree travel? A redwood in the Hangzhou Botanical Garden knows.
It crossed the Pacific from the US in 1972 and took root in Hangzhou — a living symbol of China-US friendship. That friendship blossomed further in 1982, when Hangzhou and Boston became sister cities. Now, exchanges among young people from both cities are bridging the Pacific. Hangzhou cuisine brings the flavors of Hangzhou to Boston streets. And the Hangzhou Sino-US Friendship Folk Museum preserves generations of ties.
