We spend billions optimising strategy, technology, and talent. And almost nothing on the one thing driving all of it.
This talk challenges the idea that workplace behavior is driven mainly by rational thinking and willpower, introducing instead a neuroscience-based view: behavior—especially under pressure—is shaped by the nervous system. Organizational culture is therefore not just values and intentions, but the collective internal states of people, whether they feel safe, stressed, or threatened.
As workplaces become more complex and demanding, many performance issues and burnout cases stem from misreading nervous system strain as individual failure.
Maria Haggo has spent a decade finding out why. What she discovered in the neuroscience will change the way you see every meeting, every decision, and every person in your organization. Maria Haggo is a brain health strategist, researcher, and founder of Transform8. She is the architect of The Brain Ecology framework and the T8 Index, neuroscience-based tools that help leaders and organisations optimise thinking, resilience, and performance. With an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience from King's College London, a Founding Member of the Applied Neuroscience Association UAE, and an active research collaboration with King's College London, Maria has spent a decade translating brain science into practical tools for the workplace. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
