What if something as ordinary as soap could make us rethink our relationship with nature? In “The Day I Stopped Using Soap,” Devendra Jani, founder of Bee The Lead, shares his personal journey of questioning everyday habits and discovering a deeper connection between human choices, biodiversity and the natural world.
Through an engaging mix of personal experience, storytelling and environmental awareness, the talk explores how seemingly small lifestyle choices can influence ecosystems and the creatures that sustain them. It invites us to look beyond convenience, question what we consider “normal,” and recognise that living sustainably begins with becoming more conscious of our everyday choices.
Core message: Sometimes, changing the way we live begins with simply questioning what we have always taken for granted. Devendra Jani, popularly known as “Mr. Bee of India,” is a bee conservationist, artist and founder of Bee-The Lead. Through his work, he inspires people to look beyond the fear of bees and understand their crucial role in biodiversity, food security and sustainable ecosystems. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
