시원한 바람을 가르며 올라가는 케이블카에서 내려 고즈넉한 해운사를 지나면, 금오산의 역동적인 숨결이 느껴지는 대혜폭포의 시원한 물줄기와 바위 벽면에 신비롭게 자리 잡은 도선굴이 차례로 반가운 인사를 건넵니다.

하지만 진정한 도전은 이제부터 시작입니다. 가만히 있어도 푹푹 빠지는 습한 공기가 숨을 턱턱 막아서고, 옷가지가 온통 젖도록 땀이 비 오듯 쏟아지는 할딱고개의 가파른 바윗길. 허벅지는 팽팽하게 죄어오고 가쁜 숨은 턱 끝까지 차오르지만, 저 높은 곳에서 나를 기다리고 있을 압도적인 비경을 떠올리며 힘껏 걸음을 옮깁니다.

땀방울 끝에 마침내 도달한 금오산의 최고봉, 현월봉. 탁 트인 산하를 가슴 가득 품에 안고 조금 더 걸음을 옮겨 쌍거북바위에 올라서는 순간, 눈앞에 거짓말 같은 풍경이 펼쳐집니다. 깎아지른 절벽 아래 감싸 안기듯 자리 잡은 약사암의 아찔하고 웅장한 모습이 발아래로 시원하게 내려다보이죠.

그 경이로운 조망에 감탄하며 이제 직접 절벽 아래 약사암으로 발걸음을 내려놓습니다. 거대한 약사봉 암벽에 둘러싸인 약사암에 들어서면 묘한 전율과 경외감이 온몸을 감쌉니다.

"도대체 이 아찔한 낭떠러지에 어떻게 자재를 날라 절을 짓고, 저 외딴 암봉 위에 아슬아슬하게 범종각을 올렸을까?"

사람의 손으로 지었다고는 도저히 믿기지 않는 신비롭고 장엄한 풍경 앞에 그저 감탄사만 터져 나올 뿐입니다.

Stepping off the cable car that glides through the cool breeze and passing the tranquil Haeunsa Temple, you are greeted by the refreshing streams of Daehye Waterfall—pulsing with the dynamic energy of Mt. Geumo—and Doseongul Cave, nestling mysteriously within the sheer rock face.

Yet the true challenge begins now. The stifling, humid air catches in your throat even while standing still, and sweat pours like rain along the steep, rocky trail of Haltakgogae Pass. Though muscles burn and breath comes in heavy gasps, every arduous step is driven by the anticipation of the breathtaking vistas waiting at the top.

At the end of this hard-earned climb lies Hyeonwolbong, the highest peak of Mt. Geumo. Embracing the vast panorama in one chest-swelling view, you press on to Twin Turtle Rock—where an almost surreal landscape unfolds. Nestled dramatically beneath towering cliffs, the grand and dizzying sight of Yaksaam Hermitage spreads out far below.

Marveling at this awe-inspiring vista, you make your way down toward the cliffside hermitage itself. Surrounded by the massive rock face of Yaksabong Peak, stepping into Yaksaam fills you with a subtle thrill and profound reverence.

"How on earth did they transport materials up this dizzying precipice to build a temple, and how did they balance a bell pavilion atop that solitary, sheer rock peak?"

Standing before a view so mystical and majestic that it defies human creation, you are left in utter awe.

Continuing along the trail, the serene, graceful smile carved into the Rock-carved Standing Buddha warmly welcomes hikers.
