न्यूरेमबेर्ग ट्रायल से जब घबराए आम लोग [The impact of the Nuremberg Trials]

न्यूरेमबेर्ग ट्रायल्स के दौरान लोगों के बीच यह राय बनी कि नाजियों की क्रूरता की सजा सिर्फ पार्टी के बड़े अफसरों तक ही सीमित होनी चाहिए क्योंकि उनसे छोटी रैंक वाले अफसरों को भी अगर सजा मिलती तो जर्मनी की एक बड़ी आबादी इस ट्रायल का हिस्सा बन जाती. न्यूरेमबर्ग ट्रायल्स का खात्मा 218 दिनों के बाद हुआ जिसमें बारह आरोपियों को फांसी, सात को उम्र कैद मिली और तीन को निर्दोष पाया गया.

The first Nuremberg trial ended on October 1, 1946. The court handed down 12 death sentences, seven prison sentences and three acquittals against the high-ranking Nazi leaders. Today, the Nuremberg Trials are considered a milestone in international law. In 1945, it was hoped that the legal standards that applied in Nuremberg would apply to everyone in the future. No war criminal should be able to rely solely on the power of their office or the laws of their own country.
