Oh cool, they’re turning your mailman into a roaming Flock surveillance tool.
The United States Postal Service has started a test of cameras on their mail vans to detect what’s going on in the streets of America.
The reported reason is to monitor for “community safety” and roadway hazards. The camera mounted on the dash won’t record the driver like it’s made by Amazon, but it’s supposed ot be outward facing only with no audio attached to it.
The Next Base cameras have been rolling around on several US streets for the last couple of weeks, and could potentially expand to your neighborhood if they deem the trial successful enough.
