We Have to Work Together to Prevent Sexual Violence | Mary Beth Lindsey | TEDxABQ

Mary Beth Lindsey reframes sexual assault as everyone's public health crisis, not just the demographic left to fix it. Mary Beth Lindsey is an actor, singer, performer, and community advocate serving as Education & Prevention Manager for Solace Sexual Assault Services in Santa Fe, where she's also a well-known local emcee performing as Miss Anita Whiskey. In her talk, Mary Beth points to a striking disconnect: the professionals leading sexual assault recovery work are rarely the demographic most often responsible for perpetrating it. Drawing on CDC research, she makes the case for a different, more coordinated response to what she argues is a public health crisis touching all of us. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
