If you ride a motorcycle, scooter, or ATV, adjusting your rear suspension preload is vital for a safe and comfortable ride. By rotating the stepped collar at the base of the shock absorber, you compress the heavy coil spring, stiffening the suspension to handle heavier riders or extra cargo. However, doing this usually requires a highly specialized tool called a C-spanner wrench.
If you don't have one, this mechanic's leverage hack is brilliant! By hooking the open end of a standard wrench over the adjustment tab and inserting a metal rod through the other end, they create a massive lever arm. This multiplies their physical pulling force, giving them the exact mechanical advantage needed to safely break the intense spring tension and click the heavy shock collar into the next locking groove!
