Tobacco addiction often begins with what seems like a harmless choice: one cigarette. This talk examines why teenagers start smoking, the pressures that influence them, and the physical and social consequences of nicotine addiction. It proposes a student-led approach to prevention, turning peer pressure into peer support and making a smoke-free lifestyle a positive choice. Khalil Mehrez is an MYP 5 student at Ideale School passionate about cycling and sports. His notable achievement is developing an innovative mobile application for cyclists and endurance sports enthusiasts, featuring a unique hunting mode to track and enhance training performance. Today, he’ll be sharing insights from his research on smoking’s impact on adolescents, exploring why teens turn to smoking and what we can do about it.
