In this TEDx talk, Jordan Grace examines the invisible armor we often call power—and why it’s not the point. Power is real. But it’s often something we build to protect ourselves under pressure. Through movement, lived experience, and her work in a women-centered dance community, Jordan shows how this armor can quietly pull us away from ourselves.
This talk is about what happens when the goal shifts—from becoming powerful to being who you already are, and learning to love yourself there. Jordan Grace is a choreographer, entrepreneur, and founder of AREA 54, a nationally recognized dance brand that empowers people to rediscover joy, confidence, and community through movement. After working professionally as both a dancer and recording artist, Jordan saw how the pressures of the entertainment industry often strip people of their authentic selves. Determined to create a space that celebrates individuality, she launched AREA 54, where classes are about more than steps — they are about reclaiming freedom. As a wife, mother of two, and business leader, Jordan brings a unique perspective on balancing ambition with authenticity. Her mission is simple: to help others come home to themselves through dance and story.
