“Seeing Each Other”, a photography exchange program with Fudan as one of the co-organizers

Street by street, shutter by shutter — 20 students from China and the U.S. walked through Shanghai’s alleys, not as tourists, but as storytellers.

Through ordinary moments — a game of mahjong, a morning tea pour, a bicycle weaving through dawn — they searched for what words often miss: the quiet poetry of daily life, and the unexpected echoes of each other’s worlds.

This is “Seeing Each Other” — a photography exchange program co-organized by Fudan University, UC Irvine, and the Cyrus Tang Foundation. No filters, no algorithms. Just real encounters, one frame at a time.

Because sometimes, the best way to break down a “filter bubble” isn’t to scroll — but to see. 👀🌏
