All the basic human decency we were taught as children is basically the polar opposite of what AI is doing to us
Artificial Intelligence is largely trained on old books these days - and you know how they extract all the data from them? By cutting of their spines and destroying all the pages
An ever increasing number of book sellers are having mixed emotions as their sales increase and the overall number of printed reading materials on the planet goes down every day after data center management companies buy up all their stock just to ultimately pulp them up and throw them out
Since the majority of the internet is already difficult to navigate without finding something tainted by AI - the AI companies themselves have to resort to books for new un-touched information
And while that might SEEM like a step in the right direction - it’s incredibly destructive to the books since the most efficient data extraction method is literally called “destructive scanning” - in where the spines are separated from the pages so they can be individually scanned, broken down, and then ideally recycled
