What if the most powerful force in achieving something great isn’t certainty—but a sliver of possibility? In this inspiring talk, Jamie Aarons explores how extraordinary achievements often begin with a tiny spark she calls “The Glimmer of Maybe.” Sharing the story of her self‑propelled continuous Munro round, she reflects on being driven not by certainty but by the very real possibility of failure. Through storms, exhaustion, and with some incredibly sore feet, she demonstrated that resilience grows one choice at a time—and rarely alone. This talk highlights the power of community and tenacity, and invites audiences to rethink what’s possible when we let the mind lead the body, when we welcome the prospect of failure as a catalyst, and when we embrace the quiet but powerful idea that maybe—just maybe—something extraordinary could happen. Jamie Aarons is an enthusiastic adventure racer, ultra runner, cyclist and kayaker as well as a devoted social worker. In 2023, she embarked on a self propelled Munro challenge where she scaled 282 Scottish peaks over 3000 feat. Jamie finished the challenge in 31 days 10 hours and 27 minutes, thereby breaking the previous record. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
