25年以上、在野の研究者として、子育てや家事をしながら、途方もない量のデータベースを作成してきた彼女。
がんばって作っても、このデータベースは世に出ることはないかもしれない。
いっそやめてしまおうと諦めそうになったこともあった。
そんな彼女が辿り着いた、「価値あるもの」と「評価されるもの」との間にあるものとは。

KUNIOKA Keiko　：　The Journey from What Has Value to What Is Valued

For more than 25 years, she has worked as an independent researcher,
building an enormous database while raising children and managing household responsibilities.
No matter how hard she worked on it, there were times when she feared that this database might never see the light of day.
At times, she came close to giving up altogether.
What she eventually discovered was the crucial element that lies between something of value and something that is truly valued.


After graduating from university, she studied bureaucratic personnel affairs in the Meiji era as a researcher out of power for a long time. The results of her research are now being distributed by her university as a blue book DB and Kainin Nichiroku DB. Kainin Nichiroku is the Appointment Records issued within Japan's central bureaucracy during the early Meiji period. The number of people listed in both DBs exceeds 40,000, making it the largest bureaucratic data of the Meiji era at present, and the first open data source. Recently, she has been making efforts to disseminate the existence of Kainin Nichiroku, believing that it can make a significant contribution to the research community due to its elaborate contents.
