I’m sure this new cool tech won’t have any horrific unintended consequences.
Scientists worked with people under fMRI to recreate images that they were thinking of, and the results are incredibly close to what the patients were shown.
The AI that was used to translate the brain signals had to be trained on each person to get a grasp of how their brain processes thing, but after training you can see it could get within spitting distance of the thoughts.
The lighthearted optimistic take is that this could be used for dream recording and playback. The skeptical dystopic idea is that this could be used to force confessions by getting people to try to visually recall events and using that as evidence.
