국립현대미술관과 울산시립미술관이 함께하는 2026 지역동행《끝내지 못한 이야기, 국민화가 이중섭》전이 울산시립미술관에서 10월 15일부터 2027년 1월 17일까지 개최됩니다.

이중섭은 우리에게 오랫동안 사랑받아 온 ‘국민화가’입니다. 이번 전시는 익숙한 작품을 넘어, 한 인간으로서 이중섭이 살아낸 삶과 그 안에 담긴 사랑과 그리움을 더욱 가까이 들여다봅니다.
국립현대미술관 소장 이건희컬렉션을 중심으로 리움미술관, 이중섭미술관, 작가 유족 등의 협조를 통해 모은 회화, 은지화, 엽서화, 편지화, 아카이브 등 총 140점을 선보입니다.
소와 아이, 가족과 풍경 등 반복적으로 등장하는 소재와 다채로운 표현을 통해 이중섭이 삶에서 마주한 사람과 풍경, 가족을 향한 그리움이 어떻게 예술로 피어났는지 살펴봅니다. 작가가 거쳐 간 지역과 시기를 따라 그의 예술세계를 새롭게 만나보세요.

Discover the life, love, and longing behind the art of Lee Jung-seop, one of Korea’s most beloved artists.
Featuring 140 works, including paintings, silver foil drawings, postcard paintings, letter paintings, and archival materials, the exhibition is centered on the Lee Kun-Hee Collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea(MMCA), with works brought together through the support of Leeum Museum of Art, the Lee Jungseop Art Museum, and the artist’s family.
Through recurring motifs such as oxen, children, family, and landscapes, discover how the people and places that shaped his life, along with his longing for his family, found expression in his art. Follow the places he lived and the different periods of his life to gain a deeper understanding of his artistic journey.
Works not displayed in the galleries can also be explored through video presentations.
