"What a start to the new Bundesliga season! Bayern and Dortmund flex their muscles, while Elversberg shock everyone. The opening Matchday of the 2026/27 season had it all!
Bayern got off to a perfect start against Stuttgart. But their rivals Dortmund also impressed against HSV. Leipzig celebrated Demichelis’ league debut with a convincing win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. The biggest surprise came in Elversberg, who defeated 2023/24 champions Bayer Leverkusen to secure the first Bundesliga win in the club’s history. There was plenty of drama at the Alte Försterei, where Frankfurt and Union Berlin traded blows in a wild encounter. Freiburg secured a win thanks to a hattrick from Suzuki against Niclas Füllkrug and Werder Bremen. Köln turned the game around late on to beat Hoffenheim. Augsburg comfortably beat returning side Schalke.
