줄거리 : 북에서 내려온 창환은 어머니와 애인인 성희(주증녀), 성희의 오빠이자 친구인 성호(배석인)에게 월북을 종용하나 그들은 이를 거절한다. 6·25가 터지자 성호는 국군 중대장으로 참전하고 전투 중 고립된다. 그러나 UN군의 참전으로 전세는 호전되고, 부상당한 브라운 대위를 구한 성호는 국군과 결합하기 위해 이동한다. 우연히 고향의 양민을 잔인하게 죽이는 창환 일당을 물리친 성호 일행은 위기에 처해 있던 성희를 구한다. 부상당한 흑인 병사를 구하기 위해 성희의 어머니는 눈을 잃고, 성희는 간호장교가 된다. 성희는 우연히 부상당해 병원에 입원한 창환을 만나고 그는 그녀를 통해 자신의 과오를 뉘우치고 자유의 품에 안긴다.

SYNOPSIS : Chang-hwan from North Korea persuades his mother, lover Seung-hui (Ju Jeung-nyeo), and Seung-hui's brother, Seung-ho (Bae Seok-in) to come to North Korea, but they refuse to do so. When the Korean War breaks out Seung-ho participates as commander and finds his soldiers isolated. When the U.N. forces participate, the situation gets better. Seung-ho, who saves a wounded soldier, lieutenant Brown moves on to combine with the Korean forces. Seung-ho's soldiers attack Chang-whan and his brutal soldiers killing villagers and save Seung-hui from danger. Her mother loses her eyesight when saving a wounded black soldier, and Seung-hui turns into a nursing officer. She meets Chang-whan in hospital and he regrets what he has done wrong due to her heart-to-heart conversations, and no longer acts as a communist.
