First, Google makes it harder for you to install your own apps on Android. Now, they’re making it way easier for slop to be part of their Play Store.
The 24 hour wait they’re enforcing to make sure you don’t download any apps from unverified developers is already rolling out. But if you’re a “verified developer” which only means you’ve signed up for an account with them, then vibecoded apps are going to be so much simpler to throw out on the store.
You don’t even need a paid developer account, just be registered. It’s supposed to start off being easier for devs to share their new app with themselves and select tests, but once you pass Google’s known rigorous safety standards for the Play Store, then it can be broadcasted globally.
