The Oxfordshire village of Piddington has voted overwhelmingly in favour of independence from the UK in a symbolic protest against plans to house 1,256 male asylum seekers at a nearby former military base.
The village of around 350 residents voted referendum yesterday, with the result announced by the Parish Council.
