Smartphones that we have used for more than a decade may only be transitional products. Four key technologies are being advanced in China: 2‑nm miniaturized chips, high‑resolution silicon‑based Micro‑OLED micro‑displays, low‑latency all‑optical networks, and tele‑presence robot technology. Combined, these technologies may evolve into lightweight AR glasses. Information can be overlaid directly on real‑world vision, freeing users from constantly staring down at screens and enabling remote observation, listening and physical operation. Smartphones will not disappear overnight, yet they may gradually fade into secondary roles just like old feature phones.
