Within months, Italy has seen two major art heists: a weekend break-in in Messina, Sicily that netted four Renaissance masterpieces, and the recovery of three paintings worth around ten million euros stolen from a foundation near Parma. Dutch art crime investigator Arthur Brand explains why famous paintings that can't be sold openly still get stolen, and how they often end up as currency in the criminal underworld.
