Gavin Newsom eviscerated after commuting all of California's 548 death-row inmates

California Governor Gavin Newsom has shockingly said he will allow all of the state's 548 death-row inmates to escape punishment.

Newsom penned a letter following the announcement, claiming the state of California "cannot morally kill them".

The governor argued that the state would rather let the offenders "die in obscurity while we forever remember and honour their victims".

"I take this action because I firmly believe that state-sanctioned killing is incompatible with California's values, undermines the foundations of our legal system, and diminishes each of us," Newsom said.

The commutation will be the largest in modern US history, with California last executing a prisoner in 2006 despite housing the largest death-row population.
