The Climate CATCH Lab was delighted to welcome former Prime Minister the Honorable Julia Gillard AC to deliver our 2026 Annual Oration.
The University of Melbourne’s new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Carolyn Evans, opened the event before Ms Gillard delivered the Oration.
As Chair of Wellcome and a longstanding leader in public policy, education and gender equity, Ms Gillard shared her reflections on leadership, climate change and the role of institutions in creating healthier and more equitable futures.
The Climate CATCH Lab is a joint initiative of the University of Melbourne’s School of Population and Global Health and Melbourne Medical School, within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, and Melbourne Climate Futures. The Lab accelerates research, education and engagement at the intersection of climate change and human health. In 2026, it was formally designated as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Climate and Health Research, Policy and Action.
