In the summer of 1592, as Japanese forces invaded Joseon and the government army collapsed, ordinary people rose to defend their homeland with sickles, spears, and whatever weapons they could find.

Seo In-chung (徐仁忠), a scholar-warrior from Nammok-dong in Ulsan, passed the military examination and became both a government officer and a leader of the righteous armies. He also served as a naval commander, defending the southeastern coast of Joseon.

Mangjo (望潮) is a historical novel based on Mangjodang Yusa (望潮堂遺事), family records preserved by the Dalseong Seo clan, and historical accounts of the righteous armies of the Yeongnam region.

This is not simply the story of one hero.

It is also the story of families who sent their loved ones to war, people who rebuilt shattered forces, and young sailors whose names were barely recorded in history.

A story about the people who protected their country, each from their own place.

Through Mangjo, we encounter the unsung heroes who stood against the chaos of the Imjin War.
