This Madagascar 3 moment is funny on the surface because Alex uses “What are we, five?” as a way of saying they’re acting like little kids, while Gia takes it literally and replies, “I am five, yes.” But the wording also gives the scene a slightly more awkward, adult-sounding undertone when you hear it years later. Whether that was intentional or not, it’s one of those jokes that can feel completely innocent as a kid and very different as an adult.
