For more than 100 years, the Core Curriculum has been the defining element of a Columbia College education. This communal learning experience cultivates community-wide discourse and contemplation around seminal works, contemporary issues and humanity’s most enduring questions.
In this video, we speak with Larry Jackson, the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Director of the Center for the Core Curriculum at Columbia College. Professor Jackson explores the experience of reading the core curriculum and explains why Columbia continues to focus on an approach that has united the university’s undergraduates since the university’s founding.
