McGill Cares - From Caregiver to Advocate: A Journey of Love, Learning and Purpose
Varsha Bhat is an advocate for aging and caregiving, a public educator, and a technology innovation leader focused on improving the experience of aging for older adults, caregivers and families. She is the creator and host of the Aging With Dignity podcast, a community-engagement platform that amplifies caregiver experiences and older adult perspectives while fostering more open and informed conversations about aging.
Drawing on her lived experience caring for both of her parents, including her mother who lived with dementia, and a career which spanned technology startups, innovation and market expansion across North America and Europe, Varsha brings a unique perspective to the intersection of aging, healthcare, innovation and community.
During this special McGill Cares webcast, Varsha Bhat will share an honest and heartfelt perspective on the realities of caring for an aging parent. She will reflect on her experience navigating a complex healthcare system while caring for both of her parents, including the challenges of supporting a mother living with dementia, and she will offer practical strategies, thoughtful reflections and encouragement for caregivers and families. Together, Claire and Varsha will discuss how trusted information, community support and open conversations can help caregivers feel more supported and less alone.
