China's 63,000-mirror solar plant starts feeding the grid

China's first three-tower solar thermal power base has been connected to the grid in Qinghai, northwest China. Its 63,000 mirrors are arranged in three circular arrays, creating what has been described as "three suns in the sky." The project is expected to supply about 2.2 billion kWh of electricity to the grid annually, saving roughly 690,000 tonnes of standard coal. #infrastructure
