“If Director Kim Songjeong Stops Doing Hair, Who Will Perm My Hair?”
Many clients at Kim Songjeong Hair Salon in Gangnam, Seoul tell us:
“Director Kim, please keep doing hair for a long time. I don’t know who else can handle my hair.”
We hear this especially often from women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.

Why Is This Hair Difficult?
Approximately 15 cm of new growth is virgin hair, with many gray hairs and strong, resistant natural curls.
The remaining lengths have a history of repeated alkaline and henna coloring.
Should all of this hair receive the same chemicals, processing time, and temperature?
No.
The stylist must understand the hair’s chemical history, porosity, damage level, reduction process, and appropriate thermal conditions.
That is why Director Kim Songjeong emphasizes a reduction-based thermal perm approach rather than relying only on conventional softening tests.
Today’s Treatment Process
For approximately 15 cm of virgin new growth, Flexis Perm Solution 9.5 was used for approximately 15–20 minutes of reduction, according to the assessed condition of the hair.
The hair was then cleansed twice with P&D Therapy Shampoo, followed by the Oletin Restorative Magic Clinic process.
The key is to separate the area requiring chemical reduction from the previously processed and damaged lengths.
For today’s client, Director Kim Songjeong selected what he calls his “120-point treatment.”
After reduction and neutralization, the hair is cleansed with P&D Therapy Shampoo and the Oletin Restorative Magic Clinic process is performed.
Approximately 12 hours later, the first rinse and aftercare can be completed with P&D Therapy Treatment and appropriate Cuticle Sealer care.
Depending on the treatment, we may recommend avoiding shampoo immediately afterward. That is why some regular clients even bring a hat for their journey home. ^^
Can Henna-Treated Hair Be Permed?
Some people say:
“Henna-treated hair cannot be permed.”
But henna treatment history alone does not automatically mean a perm is impossible.
What type of henna was used?
Was alkaline color also used?
Has the hair been straightened, bleached, or repeatedly permed?
How damaged and porous is the hair now?
These factors must be considered together.
