What math taught me about uncertainty | Meline Afrikyan | TEDxAUA

Most of us leave school believing math is about finding the right answer. But what if its real purpose is teaching us how to deal with questions that don't have one? Drawing on experiences from both sides of the classroom, Meline Afrikyan shares how learning to sit with uncertainty transformed her approach to life. Meline Afrikyan is a senior Computer Science student at the American University of Armenia and an iOS developer with a passion for mathematics, history, and education. Alongside her work in technology, she teaches mathematics, where she enjoys helping students discover the patterns and ideas behind the subject.
She is particularly interested in how analytical thinking, historical perspective, and curiosity shape the way we understand complex problems. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
