John Stewart's Green Lantern Test | Lanterns

In HBO's Lanterns Episode 3 ("OutKast"), John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) faces a Guardian's test: place the ring on his finger and manifest his father's watch using nothing but focus and willpower. Piece by piece, the hard-light construct comes together — and the Guardian, watching him master the ring's inner engineering, is impressed. "Fine work," he says. "We've been watching your progress." But the real challenge is still ahead: a portal tears open on the floor, swallowing the room in darkness, and John is told to jump straight into it — sending him falling toward his actual interview, deep inside DC's cosmic bureaucracy. A quiet character scene that doubles as one of the show's most striking practical moments.
