ChinaTravel Hits! Shanghai’s cruise terminal welcomes the largest amount of S. Korean visitors

Shanghai’s Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal saw bustling activity as two major liners, the Adora Mediterranean and the Costa Serena, berthed simultaneously along its 1,600-meter coastline. The arrival of the Costa Serena brought over 2,500 passengers ashore, including more than 2,300 South Korean tourists—marking one of the largest tour groups received at Shanghai ports since China implemented its visa-free entry policy for South Korea. To ensure swift passenger clearance during tight port-of-call schedules, the Pujiang Immigration Inspection Station dispatched an onboard inspection team overseas to complete document checks en route. This streamlined process allowed international travelers to disembark seamlessly and head straight to iconic landmarks like Yuyuan Garden, Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, and Shanghai Tower.

Concurrently, the port managed inbound and outbound operations for the Adora Mediterranean, which recently transitioned to Shanghai after four years in Tianjin to begin four scheduled homeport sailings. The double-vessel call highlights the booming momentum of Shanghai’s international cruise sector, which logged 92 ship calls and nearly 300,000 passenger trips during the summer travel peak alone. Driven by optimized visa-free entry policies, expanded flight and cruise routes, and world-class port logistics, Shanghai continues to solidify its reputation as a global magnet for international travelers and a premier destination for cruise tourism.
