This public event celebrates Every Last Girl: A Journey to Educate India's Forgotten Daughters, a book by Safeena Husain. In conversation with Stephan Chambers, she will discuss the journey of Educate Girls and its mission to find and empower every girl in India.

There are millions of girls in India whose futures are shaped before they are even born. They are the ones most likely to be left behind by poverty, patriarchy, early marriage, and restrictive social norms. At Educate Girls, this often unwanted girl is known as Antimbala—the “last girl.” Educate Girls’ mission is to get that girl back into school. What began in a handful of villages has grown into a community-led movement that has reached more than 31,500 villages and helped over 2.2 million girls access education. Join Safeena Husain—LSE alumna and recipient of an Honorary Doctorate from the School — for a conversation on girls’ education, community-led change, and the challenge of designing solutions at scale. The discussion explores what it takes to reach the ‘last girl’ and what becomes possible when communities come together to transform the futures of their daughter.
