One of the most beautiful places to experience Gyeongju at night,
Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond was once a royal villa where a Silla prince resided,
as well as an official venue for banquets and receptions held for foreign envoys.
It was a royal space where elegant gardens and pavilions were harmoniously arranged.

During the Joseon Dynasty, the buildings disappeared and only the pond remained.
As geese and ducks began to gather there, the site came to be known for a time as “Anapji.”
Today, its original name, Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, is once again officially used.

From any spot along the pond, the entire view never reveals itself at once.
The water seems to stretch endlessly,
beautifully reflecting the Unified Silla period’s landscape design,
where nature and architecture exist in perfect harmony.

As dusk falls and the pavilion lights gradually turn on,
Donggung and Wolji transform into a completely different world from daytime.
The illuminated structures reflected on the pond blend with the ever-changing evening sky,
