■ About the Work
'Cak Cak Cekuk' was presented by TapworksKL (Malaysia) as part of Asia Tap Vibe, the opening performance of the 2026 Seoul Tap Dance Festival.
Set to a vibrant Malaysian song, this work combines rhythmic tap footwork with expressive movement while incorporating the kompang, a traditional Malaysian percussion instrument.
The title "Cak Cak Cekuk" refers to the playful sounds adults make when talking to or entertaining a baby—an affectionate expression familiar in Malaysian culture. The performance also invites audience participation, extending the spirit of cultural exchange beyond the stage and transforming rhythm into a shared experience between performers and audience.
