주작단 시즌2의 첫 번째 에피소드는 경북 안동, 낙동강이 마을을 완전히 에워싼 섬마을 — 맹개마을로 향합니다.
이 이야기는 한 권의 책에서 시작됩니다.
1540년 조리서 수은잡방(需雲雜方)을 넘기던 중 발견한 단어 하나 —
‘진맥소주(眞麥燒酒).’ 밀로 빚은 소주가 500년 전 이미 존재했다는 기록.
그 순간 박성호 대표는 자신의 술이 역사가 됐다는 것을 깨달았습니다.
다리를 놔주겠다는 제안을 여러 번 거절한 양조장. 유기농 농법, 태양광 에너지, 술지게미 발효 퇴비까지 — 낙동강 섬마을의 자연환경을 지키는 것이 이 양조장의 첫 번째 철학입니다.
퇴계이황이 시를 썼던 바위 경암(鏡巖)에서 이름을 딴 Poet’s Rock. 샌프란시스코 세계 증류주 품평회 더블골드, 런던 스피릿 컴피티션 수상. 그러나 박성호 대표는 오늘도 담담합니다 — “별거 아니에요, 그냥 한잔하시죠.”

Welcome to [JUJAKDAN], a channel exploring premium Korean traditional liquors, craft spirits, and hidden distilleries across Korea!
Season 2 kicks off in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province —
at a distillery tucked inside an island village completely encircled by the Nakdong River.
This story begins with a book. Flipping through a newly translated 16th-century culinary manuscript called Suunjabbang, CEO Park Seong-ho stumbled upon two words: Jinmaek Soju — a wheat-based soju recorded in 1540. In that moment, his liquor found its history.
A distillery that has turned down every offer to build a bridge. Organic farming, solar energy, fermented grain compost — protecting the natural environment of Maengae Village is the founding philosophy here.
Poet’s Rock — named after Gyeongam, the boulder in the village river where the great Joseon scholar Yi Hwang (pen name: Toegye) once wrote a poem. Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Winner at the London Spirits Competition. And yet CEO Park simply says: “It’s nothing special — let’s just have a glass.”
The man who revived a 500-year-old spirit. A distillery that lives with nature. This is Maengae Brewery.
